Mirca Zotti received the Laurea degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Genoa in 1993 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Catania in 2003. She obtained a Master of Medical Mycology from Pasteur Institute of Paris in 1995. Since 2011 she has been teaching Applied Botany at DISTAV UNIGE where she is the chief of the Mycology Laboratory and the ColD-UNIGE JUR MIRRI-IT collection. Her interests are in the area of mycology, as concerns both the ecology, biodiversity of macrofungi, and the role of microfungi as biodeteriogens, human pathogens, for their possible exploitation in environmental bioremediation protocols. She is involved in several research projects funded by the European Community and local authorities. She authored many papers, appeared in international journals and conference proceedings. Furthermore, she is the author of several books on mycology.
