ARS URBANA: SELECTED PROJECTS FOR EUROFLORA 2025
A new way of understanding urban landscapes to tackle climate challenges
Following intense days of work, the selection of projects participating in Ars Urbana, the Euroflora 2025 competition, has been completed. The competition aims to support creativity and innovation in landscape design.
Fourteen projects have passed the scrutiny of the evaluation committee, composed of architect Matteo Fraschini of the URGES Valagussa Group, designer of Euroflora 2025, landscape architect Caterina Tamagno representing Porto Antico di Genova S.p.A., architect Angela Gambardella for the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of the Province of Genoa, the president of the Order of Agricultural and Forestry Doctors of the Liguria Region, forestry doctor Giovanni Sanguineti, and the president of the Ligurian section of AIAPP – Italian Association of Landscape Architecture, architect Anna Sessarego.
The projects presented reveal a new way of understanding the urban landscape. Nature is no longer anthropized and reduced to rational forms for decoration or mitigation, but it itself becomes the protagonist, emerging in space, in time, and with its own laws, contributing to the regeneration of a resilient city capable of facing the climate challenges of our time.
The selection process was analytical and rigorous: in the first phase, the committee met to view the projects received, then each member examined the documents of each project individually, assigning a rating. Subsequently, the committee met collectively and reviewed each project, comparing and discussing the individual reasons, finally arriving at a unanimous judgment and a final choice. The word now goes to the selected designers who will have to confirm their participation in Euroflora.
The assigned spaces – four for the under-30 category and ten for the over-30 category – have a size of about 50 square meters and are located in the first area of Euroflora, the Parco di piazzale Kennedy. A second committee will evaluate the completed projects on April 23rd, the eve of the opening, traditionally dedicated to the work of the juries of all Euroflora competitions.
