AT EUROFLORA 2025, THE EGYPTIAN MUSEUM OF TURIN

AT EUROFLORA 2025, THE EGYPTIAN MUSEUM OF TURIN

The Egyptian Museum of Turin, the world’s oldest museum dedicated entirely to Egyptian culture, will be showcasing its “Pleasure Garden” at Euroflora 2025. This installation is inspired by the gardens of the New Kingdom period (1539-1076 BC) in ancient Egypt.

Visitors will encounter a variety of plants that held symbolic significance for the ancient Egyptians. Among them are the blue lotus, a flower that opens at dawn and closes at sunset, representing rebirth and regeneration, and papyrus, the heraldic plant of Lower Egypt, which flourished in the marshlands along the Nile River.

This project is more than just a reconstruction of a historical garden. It aims to recreate the experience of an ancient Egyptian garden, highlighting the symbolic meanings of the plants and offering a contemporary and sensory understanding of ancient Egyptian culture. The international team of Egyptologists and curators from the Egyptian Museum – Johannes Auenmüller, Divina Centore, and Cédric Gobeil – has developed this immersive experience to transport visitors back in time.
